Our Story

How it all started...

EastLake Community Church was birthed out of a church planting vision and is committed to planting churches!

In the fall of 2005 more than 60 people came together to make up the initial “core” of what would be our church. Through the generous support of Parkway House of Prayer in Roanoke, we launched on February 5, 2006, as that core group was joined by more than 100 others.

Expanding the vision...

In the Fall of 2010 we moved into a building that was formerly a grocery store and later a flea market. We gutted it completely and refitted it with a 300 seat sanctuary, offices, classrooms, nursery, kid’s worship center, and kitchen.

Over the course of the first ten years God has blown our minds with all he has done. Lives genuinely transformed, deepening relationships with God, loving and serving our community, and planting other churches have marked our early years.

Where we are headed...

But we believe the best is yet to come. God has given us a big vision and allowed us to purchase 162 beautiful acres that we believe will be used in big ways for God's glory: home to the EastLake Community Church building, Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, and in the future, a state-of-the-art retreat center.

We believe that God is working in this world and doing great big things in and through His church. We are committed to being used by God to make a difference in the world.

Be a part of our story...

At EastLake Community Church, we know that everyone has a story. The beauty of the gospel is that no matter what your life’s story has been, Jesus has come to redeem it and give it a new ending.

We invite you to join us every Wednesday for our prayer meeting at 7 PM and on Sundays at 9 & 11 AM. You can also watch online here at 11 AM every Sunday.

We think that you’ll find EastLake is a welcoming church with vibrant worship, relevant messages from the Bible, a well-staffed nursery, exciting programming for kids and teens, and a heart to reach out into the community to share the love of Jesus.
